The Transportation Corps is a combat service support branch and one of the three U.S. Army logistics branches responsible for the movement of personnel and material by truck, rail, air, and sea. Its motto is "Spearhead of Logistics," and it is currently the second-largest branch of the Army.
After enlisting at Camp Shelby on December 17, 1945 with a contract for only a year, Corporal Harry Lloyd Edmonds was assigned to the U.S. Army, 3527th Transportation Corps Truck Company. The Transportation Corps was established July 31, 1942 by Executive Order 9082. According to Executive Order 9082, this was a mass reorganization of the Army by the United States and a transferring of functions within the war department.
