His mother, Mary was also born in Mississippi. Mary was a housewife throughout her marriage, and was self-employed as a laundress. Henry and Mary Edmonds at the time of the 1930s Census were each age 40 and 50 respectfully with two children and their own home: Willie Edmonds and Harry Lloyd Edmonds. They lived in their original family home on 114 1st Fire Ball until they moved to 418 W. Academy Street, Canton, MS. Siblings and Extended Family Willie Edmonds, born in 1905, was Harry Edmond’s older sister. Her occupation was an at home laundress. In 1920, she married Charlie Wade. He was born in 1891 and age 15 at the time of his first marriage. In the 1930s Federal Census, Willie was 25 years old and her husband was 39 years old. Charlie’s employment was a trainer in the race track industry, but he also was a homemaker. By 1916, Charlie and Willie Wade had a child, Hine Wade. Their second child was Louise Wade, born in 1918. Harry Edmonds married Earnestine D. Denham on September 8, 1945 in Madison, Mississippi at age 24. She was born in 1919 to William H. Denham and Hattie Mae Easterling and was 26 years old at the time of the nuptial. Harry received education through Grammar school with no documented high school graduation records. Before enlistment, he was a salesman and sales agent, except to consumers. At the of his enlistment, Harry Edmonds was African American, stood at 5’8 and 140 pounds. |
